Kampanye lingkungan perlu semakin masif untuk membangun kesadaran dan perubahan perilaku semua pihak agar ramah lingkungan, demikian pernyataan Mahawan Karuniasa, pakar lingkungan yang juga Ketua Umum ILUNI Sekolah Ilmu Lingkungan Universitas Indonesia (ILUNI SIL UI) seusai BNI UI Half Marathon.
Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa melalui UNEP menyampaikan bahwa perubahan sosial tidak cukup bahkan dibutuhkan Perubahan sosial cepat (Rapid Transformation of Societies). Hal ini menjadi syarat setidaknya dalam menghadapi perubahan iklim yang diperkirakan akan menembus kenaikan 1,5° C pada lima tahun mendatang. Tentu kenaikan ini berdampak serius berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk kelangkaan air dan pangan, serta meningkatnya potensi penyakit menular.
Perlu diketahui bahwa satu persoalan saja dari 3 krisis utama, yaitu pencemaran, berdampak besar kepada warga Jakarta. Jika polusi udara Jakarta kembali pada level tahun 2019 sebelum Covid-19, maka umur harapan hidup penduduk Jakarta terpangkas lebih dari 5 tahun. Ini salah satu contoh seriusnya dampak kerusakan lingkungan, ungkap Mahawan.
Half Marathon di Universitas Indonesia yang diselenggarakan ILUNI UI bekerjasama dengan BNI juga antara lain bermaksud mengkampanyekan lingkungan kampus hijau dan gaya hidup sehat.(Win/Red)
